Indianapolis, IN, December 1, 2010 – Together We Stand, written by Jonathan Thompson and illustrated by Byron Elliott, Jr., will delight elementary school readers by showing them what happens when then community of Forest Land comes together to solve a tough problem.
Forest Land is a bad place to be. Jimmy the Squirrel is hungry, the singing flowers are bored, and Mrs. Wolf is getting cranky. Everyone in Forest Land has a bad attitude, and it’s possible that someone just might be eaten by a beast before all is said and done. Will Papa, Girl Sally, Willy and the other delightful characters be able to step in and save the Forest Land community? With a better attitude and a cooperative spirit, everyone in Forest Land may be able to avoid the Big Showdown and find peace after all.Thompson’s new book for young readers is a project inspired by his experience working with Indiana youth. His performing arts program, New Generation Artist, has been featured in Indiana State public and private school systems. Designed to guide youth on a variety of issues from self-esteem and conflict resolution to greater academic achievement, Thompson’s after school programs have inspired hundreds of students and have also inspired Thompson’s new book.
